radio help

I just got a 2014 Sunseeker 3010ds on an E450 chassis. It has the Ford touch screen radio/nav/who knows what else system in the dash. Does anyone know how to turn the radio off? Last night, after about an hour of getting it home, I found the radio was still playing. I finally shut off the house battery switch and that shut it down. I'm guessing it is wired into the house system so it can be used as an entertainment system when parked. But what's to keep it from running the battery down when not being used? I miss the on/off knob.
  • Sunseekers come with a Magnadyne radio. Forest River has designed a circuit so that the radio gets power from either the chassis or the coach battery (but the two are isolated from each other). As you have already discovered, holding the power switch for 4 seconds turns the unit off. The radio has many features and has a steep learning curve on some of them, but is really quite good once you get it figured out. There are several helpful threads at forestriverforums.com

I think these "radios" have become a bit too... fancy...

My "radio" has all kinds of "stuff" you can do with it, but as far as I can tell it doesn't have a simple scan button.
  • Has anybody found an aftermarket radio with a tuning knob? The 2013 VW Golf still has one. I agree these things have way too steep a learning curve to just listen to the radio. Bluetooth is fine as is satellite but I like to listen to local sports programs too.
  • My 2008 Winnebago has a switch on the left side of steering wheel down on dash that reads "house/engine". A 2 way rocker switch lets you use choose your power source. I had the same problem when I first bought the MH new. I could not figure how to turn the radio off. I called Winnebago and they led me straight. Man, life used to be simple......
  • I yearn for the good old simple days, a radio with on/off, volume, and tuning knobs, a laptop with windows 7, affordable V8 rear wheel muscle car. Sorry, just fantasizing.
