everybody please stop saying check 'water' (one taste you will never call it water again) water does not eat holes in your clothes
there is NO water in a battery, unless it is a very very totaly discharged battery full of liquid
batteries contain weak sulfuric acid electrolyte
batteries out gas hydrogen and oxygen (aka water) and the fluid level goes down
so we add 'distilled' water to return the fluid level to the proper level and recharge to get to the proper 'specific gravity density' aka 'SG'
the battery does NOT contain 'pure water' it contains ACID
yes we add 'water' , but we check Electrolyte ACID level , NOT water level
