Re: bypass Birmingham, AL

US31 just parallels I-65 and goes thru downtown Birmingham, AL (Carraway Blvd) then turns into an Expressway for a while then back to US31.

Don't see the benefit of using it unless you want to go downtown vs running I-65

North/South---tough to bypass Birmingham

East/West...doable by using I-489
