What do you use to remove pine sap from a rubber roof?

Is turpentine still on the market? should dissolve it but no guarantees on it not dissolving the roof. Rubber is now plastic and plastic has softener that might be removed. I like the peanut butter, leave residue and will attract mice and squirrels away from inside.
