So... we had a very enjoyable trip to central Florida the 1st week of April and are now enjoying some warm weather here in the Chicago west burbs. But...Forecast is for several hours below freezing (high 20's) Monday and Tuesday night. I'd hate to spend the money on pink stuff and the time to re-winterize, so - in my shoes, would you just turn on the furnace overnight? Space heaters in the water bay?I do have an unheated, uninsulated barn it could go in, but the temp would drop pretty quickly there, too.Rig is an 08 Damon Astoria DP.thanks in advance.-dan

Fill the water tank and put a 100 watt bulb in the wet compartment. This works for us at close to zero. It should be fine for the 20's. You should not need the furnace.

I use these THERMO CUBES that kick-on at 35degrees and kick-off at 45 degrees.You can plug-in in 100 watt lamps or oil filled heater etc... Makes for a safe setup that will turn off when the outside temp gets up some...These are available on AMAZON

I will have similar Temps next week and have already dewinterized. I have the rv stored at my house and will run the furnace and water heater for a while before I go to bed and should not have a problem. I've been down to 24f in the past with no issues as long as daytime Temps are well above freezing.

Wow! You don't have $4 and thirty minutes time. You must be a busy man. I would never risk the damage as the weather people are not always right. JMO

Obviously it is in your best interest to re-winterize, having said that we have often camped and stored our rig un-winterized in those temps with no issues as long as daytime temps rise above freezing.

I live in the same area, last week I went to St Louis with the wife and when I closed I put antifreeze back in the water lines. Only takes 20 minutes and now I don't have to watch the weather forcast for the lows. Mines in storage away from home, but I'm confident that the next time I use it, middle of next month I know all is going to be fine.

Hold on Dan. What will be the day time temps be? It takes a while for the water to freeze. If the temps during the day are above freezing than I wouldn't worry about it. Even for a couple of days I wouldn't worry about it. I live ~40 miles south of Boston and never worry about the temps during the night if the day temps are above freezing. My last weekend of camping is around Thanksgiving and that's when I winterize. So, if the temps during the day are not freezing and you only expect a fews days of cold, then I'd leave it alone...BTDT.

Also west suburban Chicago. De-winterized 2 weeks ago. Do not expect any problems. Rig is plugged in. Factory wet bay heater is on, and furnaces set for 40 degrees.

Thanks, everyone, for the helpful replies. Yes, re-winterizing is not impossible, but finding the time to get the pink stuff, get the rv, do the work, etc is non-trivial right now. If I can't do that, I'll leave it plugged in with the furnace set low.

This winter is truly the gift that keeps on giving!
