Rear slide pause/stops several times until open.

As stated rear slide pauses/stops then continues until open. It does the same thing when closing. Nothing is in storage area under bed to weight it down. Have lubed track from the outside.

  • Check for contacts in switch...also check the circuit breaker for the slide....they go (in fact, it is supposed to be 30 amp and Monaco put a 10 amp in mine which was the source of my issue)
  • Mine has mechanical PowerGear slides, and that same problem turned out to be dirty contacts in the in/out rocker switch. Spraying some contact cleaner (same stuff I used to spray in the TV channel changer) solved it for me.
  • This is a not unusual problem on 5th wheels with hydraulic slides. Don't remember reading of it on a MH.

But if you have an auto reset circuit breaker between the battery and the hydraulic pump, that is likely the problem. The breaker heats up, opens (and stops the pump motor), cools, recloses, and supplies power back to the pump motor again. Not uncommon for it to happen 2-3 times with slides going in or out. It will just continue to get worse each time it happens.

Best news is it is cheap and easy to replace. If you do have one, look on the side to see the amp rating. Available at RV parts stores and many auto parts stores.
  • Mine was starting and stopping like that...so frustrating. It turned out I needed new batteries...mine were getting pretty old. Also, I needed to make sure to engage the parking brake knob on the dash. With that done, along with the new batteries, the slide practically zooms out now, lol. I haven't been using the motorhome very much in the past couple of years and had forgotten about the parking brake.

Hope yours is as easily fixed.

  • Does the controller have an auto resetting breaker? If so, change it. The auto resetting breakers do "wear out". Been there, done that. Available at most any auto parts store.

Almost sounds like a voltage or wiring issue.
