Rear springs for a kodiak 5500

I have a 2006 Kodiak and have the 2 leaf spring rear. I just had one leaf break and I would like to upgrade to a stronger set up. The hard part is I leave on a trip in 6 days.

Help
  • Several different springs on the 5500 chassis. Either go to a GM dealer or a big truck repair shop.
  • They will only give me what was on it. They say they have no way to look up heavyer springs. I remember others going to 19000 lb springer but can't find the part number
  • If you were in this neck of the woods, I'd send you to Henderson's Lineup. You might do a search for RV Suspension shops in your area or call a nearby RV dealer to see what they can do for you. 6 days is short notice, though. Good luck!
  • These guys are an actual spring MFG. I have used them for several medium duty trucks. If they don't have an upgraded spring-pack in stock, they can make a new set pretty quick. Any heavy truck shop can do the R&R.

Ditto. Probably doesn't help you since you are in WI, but I've used Benz Spring on a few vehicles and their work is amazing. They will custom build what you need to get your ride right.

Perhaps the better, but more expensive option, might be to consider an Ultra Ride set up from Link Manufacturing. The cost is huge ($4-5k if I recall), but it is the cat's meow. Your rig is big and springs have their limitations, as you've discovered. We have this set up and it is excellent. Here's a link to Link, for what it's worth (look under the current models tab for your C5500): http://www.linkmfg.com/ultraride.html

    Good luck.
