Recommended Route from Salt Lake City to Jackson WY

I will be driving using I-15 through Salt Lake to Jackson, WY. I am driving a 39 foot Class A with a toad. I am looking for the fastest and easiest way there - I am not interested in the sights along the way. I have two choices:

I-15 to route 30 to route 34 to 26. Shortest way but the road looks "interesting" with lots of curves.

I-15 to Idaho Falls. Route 26 all the way to Jackson. A little longer but the road looks much better.

Any information about these two options?
  • I80 east to Rock Springs, WY then due north on US 191 right into Jackson
  • US 26 from Idaho Falls to Jackson is one of my most favorite scenic drives. Plenty of interest, and not enough places to pull off (with an RV) to take pictures, IMO. Enjoy!!

Seems that when I checked this out the grades were very steep traveling from Idaho into Jackson Hole and don't really like more than 6% for any appreciable distance.
I remember we just barely skirted ID and came into Jackson from the south. We had a nice drive and are never in a hurry, if we can help it.
  • Made the trip last month -we came in to Jackson from Idaho Falls. We took U.S 26 to Alpine Junction, made a left- at which point it becomes U. S 26/89. You can't miss it! There is a gas station to fuel up if you need. It's an easy grade straight in to Jackson. It was a great drive and my wife, who is picky about grades, seconds that!
One last thought.....get a good map and look at this route. My GPS wanted to take me a different route, which might have been shorter, but my route was less taxing....good roads, less grades!
  • Just past the intersection of 26/89 in Alpine there is an RV park and just past that there in a gas station/ market and deli. They make some of the best fried chicken we have ever had.
