Refrigerator Safety Device

I just finished the install of my Absorption Refrigeration Protective RV Control. I think this is one of the most important installations I've done to my RV...........especially from a safety stand point. Anyone that is concerned about refrigerator fires should take a look at this device. The installation was NOT difficult....but did take a few hours......I installed the unit with a indicator inside the motor home, so running the wires was the most time consuming. I'm sure the installation where the indicator is in the access compartment for the rear of the refrigerator would be much faster. www.arprv.com is where you can read all about it. Spend a little time looking over the website, it's loaded with information, and I think you'll agree, this is a good device to have. I know I'll sleep better knowing I have an extra bit of safety. Next step is to install a fire extinguisher to cover all bases. By the way, Paul at ARPrv was very helpful, you contact him via email or phone.

Wish I'd had it several years ago when I forgot to turn mine off when parked on a steep driveway overnight as it would have saved me from having to put in a Amish cooling unit. Installed it this summer while a FMCA in Redmond.

Hi guys. I see that this thread is 3 months old but hope you'll get this. I have a 1989 Bigfoot truck camper with a Dometic RM2401 refrigerator. The fridge is manually lit with a push-button piezo lighter. Will the Absorption Refrigeration Protective RV Control work on this type of fridge? if not, maybe I need to get a new fridge? What do you think? Thanks, Bob

The ARP controls power to the control board. If you fridge does not have a control board the ARP will not work. Check out link above for installation of the ARP.

Dennis, when I was talking to Mac the fire guy about extinguishers, he said he had one of the APRrv controls installed on his refrigerator. From what I had previously read and hearing this from Mac, convinced me this was the way to go.

Thanks, that may just make the decision for me!
  • Excellent topic. I think this will be a mod that I will do soon as well.

    Thanks for the post!
