Removing old Diamond Shield??

It's 10 years old, discolored, and cracked. I'm able to remove the shield using Scraperite plastic razor blades, in sunlight. Have not tried a hair dryer yet for fear of damaging the clear coat. Bigger problem is removing the adhesive, which takes much longer. I apply 3M Adhesive Remover, and scrape the adhesive into globs (which stick to everything) with the plastic blade. I then rub off the residue with more 3M stuff. This may take weeks, maybe months!
Is there an easier way without taking off clear coat?
Thanks for any tips.

    I just got an estimate from local body shop to remove mine, which is in same condition, appox $300, sounds like i got a good deal, if they stay within estimate. I have removed part of it ,but removing the glue and lower section of front cap , just became to intensive. Good luck.

    If you are the original owner of the RV, Diamond Shield is warranted. Contact them and they will make arrangements with you for assistance. I just discovered this because of damage done to the front of my RV.

    Try Goo Gone to remove the adhesive. We used a heat gun to help but didn't use it on highest setting and kept it moving. We got a quote for $1000 to remove it with no guarantee that it wouldn't need repainting afterward. Ours is 3M, not Diamond Sheild but same problems. We have 2004 Country Coach. It took us 2 full days to remove most of ours. Sore fingers!!

    Also used heat gun on lower setting and kept it moving. Really made a difference. Probably spent about 40 hours or so getting it off...

    WD-40 usually does a good job of dissolving the glue so it can be removed.
    Probably a lot cheaper than goo gone. You might give it a try.

    I am on my third diamond shield. original, then replaced at newmar factory, and then again a few years ago at home. I have done everything they have suggested to keep the mildew from returning. Diamond shield is a joke and newmar knew it. It would be cheaper to have the front repainted than having diamond shield replaced each time it discolors or cracks. I am going to have it removed when I return after this summer and not replace it. More trouble than it is worth. thanks newmar for another crappy product.

    The Diamond shield on our coach is developing little rust colored specs,on the horazontal surface under the head lights. The head lights have rust inside of the units. At first I thought the problems were related,but now I am not sure. It would be good news if there is a warranty.

    Our Diamond Shield had a 5 year limit on the warranty.

    I just removed mine. Here's what I did. I used a regular cloth iron and a very damp rag. I put the wet rag on the shield and apply heat with the iron for about 5 second. Remove the iron and the rag. The shield is now soft and pliable. You will be able to pull the area that you apply heat to. It will leave no resudie at all. The whole process took me a couple hour, and believe me my shield was old rusty and cracked all over.

    Forget about the Diamond Shield warranty. They told me the five year warranty was not for people that purchased their rigs with the DS already on it. They told me the discounted, good deal price to have it removed was $600. I talked to Beau and the owner. They also said if there was any paint damage when they took it off the paint repair was on my dime. I took it off myself last week. Diamond Shield product and customer service is a joke.
