Renovating my Rig

Thank you for your service. We travel a lot in the Winter and have camped at the National Parks in sub zero weather and like to visit our Granddaughter and her Navy husband stationed in Denver during the colder months.
We use very little propane for heat and rely on electric heaters and our portable heat pump unit to keep the coach warm. We also use an electric blanket at night.
We always keep the fresh water tank topped off and use it for our water supply. We only hook up a hose to fill the tank.
We connect to sewer only when we need to dump our waste tanks.
We have a thermostatically controlled incandescent 150 watt light bulb in the wet compartment to keep the water lines and pump from freezing.
Keep in mind that even tho we are both from Florida, we are comfortable in our coach with an interior temp of 65 degrees and an overnight temp of 60. We have a large Great Pyrenees dog that also enjoys the cooler tamps. I also always carry tire chains so that we can get in to and out of RV parks that are not completely plowed.
Winters can be a challenge in an RV but they are doable with a little common sense.

If it was me, I would beef up the wiring(12 Gage min.) and install/replace a few new (good 20 amp) outlets for running back up space heaters, electric fry pans, micro wave and DW's hair dryer. When needed. Free standing oil filled heaters are safe and cheap to use.

Check out the gas heater and make sure it is in perfect condition. A bad gas furnace will let you down when you need it most and can kill you in the bargain.
Don't take chances. Make sure you have plenty of ventilation, especially when cooking with a gas stove. You also need to control the humidity, venting will help.

I have a 2001 30W Brave with 21+++ miles on it, all stock but in very good condition. I would not expect to make money on it no matter what you do to it, but, if you take good care of it then it will hold some value. I think if you study how to winter in an RV you will get along fine. You may Not want to add a washer/dryer for several reasons, just give it some thought.
Not only does it take up valuable space, but it also introduces lots of moisture in the limited space that can cause a lot of problems during the cold winter months.
Even though it may be less convenient, it is usually more practical to use the laundry facilities within the park or local Laundromat.

Also most people always leave their water and sewer hoses connected up as you would have to with a washer/dryer. As mentioned earlier, you would have to deal with heated hoses during the cold months.

What I do (w/o washer/dryer) is function from the internal tanks that don't see freezing temperatures.
During a day off, hopefully when the sun is shinning, I dump the holding tanks, refill the water tank, and then put the hoses away. That way there are no hoses to freeze up. Also doing this in the sunny months the hoses last much longer while not always out in the UV rays.

Appreciate it, yah its going to tough. The camp grounds we are going to live has a very friendly community and offer winterizing classes. From skirting the RV to heated hoses but most definitely it will be an experience. One of the main factors in my wife and i going to a RV vs a Tiny home is the continuous friendliness of the RV community. It will be a up hill battle but im sure the risk will be worth the reward.

Just my thoughts. You say you are new to the RV world, and I see you are currently stationed in Kansas. Winters get pretty cold in that part of the country, and living in an RV during the winter is going to be an experience. You may want to do some research (you should be able to search topics in the forum) about living in RV during winter in cold areas. You may find it to be a challenge.
