Repair of small Fiber glass crack?

Just discovered a small crack in the outer fiber glass of our 14 year old coach. Its about 4" long, hairline crack beginning at the bottom corner of the bedroom slide. Less than a millimeter wide.

I'm thinking of repairing it by drilling a 1/8"hole at the end and needle in a thin cyanoacrylate in the crack. Any better ideas?

  • I had a similar crack in the side of my TT. I would guess from rocks thrown up by the mower guy. I drilled the holes, used marine goop to seal it and stuck a marine access port over the fix to mask it.

  • The hole will stop the crack from propagating BUT be sure the hole is beyond the crack, into good material, or it won't be effective.
  • I'd be finding out the cause of the crack first. Glass don't crack for no reason. Sounds to me like you have a structural issue with the slide or the support frame.

Fixing it is only a temporary cure. It will crack again unless the underlying issue is corrected,
