Repair Tape
Many have mentioned a repair tape they keep in their tool box for emergency repairs of things like hyd hose, fuel line etc. Don't remember and can't find in search of "repair tape" what the brand nam...

The tape comes in various thicknesses and color
It is silicone self sticking / sealing / vulcanizing
You will have to wrap it all the way around the tank several times
The layers will fuse into one solid piece of rubber
Excellent for electrical connections and for hoses,
I think there are better ways to fix the gas tank abs cement or maybe fiberglass
