Replacement decals done by a local graphics shop?

Hi All,

We'd like to replace the cracked and peeling decals on the cabover (a couple of swoops and the Winnebago name) and possibly the back as well (just the name back there). The cabover is the worst, though. So I contacted a couple of original parts and decal sources for Winnebago and no luck. Both recommended contacting a local grapics/signmaker shop to have them made. Has anyone done this? If so, were you happy with the end product? How has it held up? How bad was the cost?

We're also considering the Red Max Pro/Zep treatment. After removing the old decals, would we want to do the process before or after applying the new decals?

I've gotten parts from them for years for my 04 and their advertising says they have original decals.

Thanks, but yep, they were the first we tried. Also tried Lichtsinn.

  • Thanks for the thoughts everyone! Lots to mull over and research around town.
  • The decals are coming off our 2011 trailer. It was bought new last year so covered by warranty. The decals are made by 3M. They are on order.

The main thing to be sure of when replacing them is that the surface is prepared properly. Apparently half of our trailer wasn't. There must have been a different guy on each side, LOL
  • Find a good local shop that does race cars and trick painting. IMHO they are more experienced and do a better job. Also IMHO I would do a search about that red pro stuff before you take the plunge, just saying.
  • Local shop did mine. Three years and they still look good. Cost was IMHO reasonable. As an alternative if your going to keep the MH for a while longer consider having the graphics painted on.
  • If I were going to have my my decals replaced by a local outfit, as with everything else, I'd ask for references or to see some of their work.

Also ask them about wax before or after they do their work...My bet is that they will strip the surface before they apply the decals, so I'd do any waxing afterwards.
