It basically requires no tools unless the old one is so tight in it's mounting hole that you need pliers to remove it. There is one electrical connection that is located at the end of a two foot pigtail. The new sensor is pushed all of the way in to the hole, the electrical connection made, and that is it.
Before you install the new sensor, check it with an ohmmeter and you will now have the resistance of a good sensor. If the problem pops up again in the future, you can easily find the defective sensor with an ohmmeter.
