- bucket1ExplorerI replaced the carpet in our a with the allure vinyl planking. not to bad of a job to do
- VA-ApraisrExplorer IIBought my C that had vinyl from the factory. Main reason was SAND from the beach. I put down carpet runners with rubber backing so I can just shake them out the side door to remove sand and then sweep the floor. No odor, and no sand-crusted carpeting beneath my feet! Ugh!
- kgragertExplorerJust went through and removed every piece of carpet I could get out of a 24yo Toyota Mini. Every piece was stapled, screwed,or glued, sometimes all three.
Nice heavy layer of sand under all of it.
Also in FLA, no carpet wanted. - WijamesExplorerThanks for all the reply s. I'm really considering vinyl. Here in FL, carpet and sand don't mix very well so I think vinyl would be a good choice.
Thanks again to all - Mich_FExplorer

Keep in mind, that you will most likely be adding a considerable amount of weight, when replacing carpeting with wood.
Full thickness traditional wood flooring is undoubtedly more weight; one source I found online suggested it's double the weight of a carpet and pad, so probably more than double the weight of the typical RV carpet. It may also be too tall for any slides to clear properly.
Engineered wood flooring systems are lot closer in weight and thickness and would be a better choice for those reasons.
My son replaced carpeting in 2 of the Cs I've had over the years. We used that engineered wood flooring, which was considerably more weight than the carpeting it replaced. ;) - DrewEExplorer II

I myself am partial to Loncoin flooring. It is ugly as sin... but it will take out what sand, boots, pets, plate armor, and other things a renaissance faire can dish out... and if I want carpet, I can toss a rug down. - Mich_FExplorerKeep in mind, that you will most likely be adding a considerable amount of weight, when replacing carpeting with wood.
- ronfishermanModeratorGulf Stream Endura. Stapled. Even vinyl flooring was stapled.
- GrandpereExplorerOur 87 Southwind was stapled, and some of it was underneath the cabinets, dining table seats and the sofa. We are going to replace it with a floating laminate flooring from Pergo so I will be pulling out the sofa to get the flooring there and then we will be putting 2 reclines and getting rid of the sofa. I would like to change out the dinette setup and put in a table and free standing chairs, but I also dislike the idea of loosing that storage area, so we will have to see about that when the time comes.
