- turbojimmyExplorerYes it depends. I cut the old carpet from around everything when I did mine. Like someone else said, most coaches are carpeted and then everything else - including the walls - get installed over top of it.
I didn't do the cab but if I did (and will someday), I'd pull the seats out. They're just 4 bolts. I had them out to replace the engine :)
And definitely yes to Pergo (or any engineered wood) (Edited from "laminate" - didn't know the difference). More durable and looks like real wood. This is my '84:
You need to leave room for expansion so you have to put 1/4 round along all of the edges. Overall I'm very pleased with this upgrade over the stinky old carpet. - msmith1199Explorer III think the answer is, it depends. Do you want "wood" in those areas? I've looked at mine and I can work around those areas pretty easily. The cockpit seats would be the most difficult to work around, but it can be done you would just need to figure out some type of trim piece to go around them.
The real question is to you mean wood or laminate? No way would I put real wood down, but I would use some of the wood look laminates out there. Too much could go wrong with real wood in a motorhome environment, and the good laminate floors are much more durable than real wood. - rgatijnet1Explorer III

Does seating sofa, breakfast booth, cockpit seats, bed have to be removed to replace carpet with wood?
Removing those things makes it a lot easier to do a finished job. Without removing most items, the wood has to be cut around the items which can be difficult. In a lot of the coaches, the carpet was installed and then everything was put on top of it.
