Jon, that is exactly what the problem is with my ceiling. The foam has deteriorated and it will not hold the vinyl. I've removed all of the vinyl and I'm getting it ready for the new T&G wood ceiling. I know that it's probably overkill, but I'm OCD and it just got on my nerves..lol The new wood ceiling will look great though. It wasn't as bad as I though.
