Ridgeline towable...?

Old question but maybe new answers... Anyone towing a Honda Ridgeline.
  • RICHARFG: Too many dealers have no idea about these things. Sales will tell you anything to sell the product.
You have 2 options to get the info: The OWNERS' MANUAL. THAT is the bible.
then, if you're still not happy...there should be a 1-800 phone number IN the owners' manual.
  • Can anyone answer....If you are towing a Ridgeline, how are you doing it?...trailer, dolly, modification, etc... where did you get the parts/equipment to do it?
  • COnsult the owners manual. If still in doubt, a Honda dealer can call Honda engineering...and they will speak to you about towing 4-down or on a dolly.

I was interested in a Mazda some years ago. Having previously used a Ford Contour 5 spd stick (Mazda with a Ford Badge) with great success (4 -down) it was time for another toad. Went to Mazda. Dealer really didn't know, but the salesperson called (I presume) an engineer..who told me NOT to tow ANY new Mazda, stick shift or not.
  • Don't say they are "exact" when they are not. Each year there is a change, be it in the transmission, CV joints, or engine. If it does not say specifically in the owner's manual it can be towed four down then it can not. I repeat it CAN NOT.
  • I think the 2005 Pilot is the only year Honda said one could tow it. Many other years have the same engine and tranny, but 05 is the only year that Honda lists it. Many other Honda vehicles have the exact same set up as the ones Honda says one can tow. They just limit their liability by saying limiting what they say can be towed. So if you want to take the chance it is up to the owner. I would not do it.
  • Check with the Honda Ridgeline forum. Think you'll get a straight answer there. With the Pilot, I believe they were shown as towable behind a motorhome till either 07 or 08. Our Pilot is an 05, and I'm setting it up with baseplate, brake and lights. Directions in the owners manual.
  • Can you qualify that with an explanation ? I've seen them towed but I can not for the life of me get an answer from dealer, tranny shop, blue ox, remco... etc
