Roadside assistance?

Ok I know this has been ask many times, but I'm going to ask again..

We are looking to get some roadside assistance insurance. Who is the best Good Sam's or Coach net?
  • Best? Neither, but in a roadside emergency (or just a breakdown) both will respond quickly to your call. Both will try to dispatch a local independent contractor, and both will call emergency first responders for a "Emergency".
But both have countless complaints, either because they couldn't find a contractor close to your location, or because the contractor was incompetent in dealing with RVs. Personally, I had a problem with Coachnet unable to send someone out, they tried to give technical assistance over the phone, but all that amounted to was reading the directions to me (I had the direction book in my hand, and I can read). AAA clearly states in the contract that many locations do not offer RV (especially big RV) service and you will be on your own, you can "try" to get reimbursement is approved. Currently I have Good Sam. I have no complaint, but clearly others do.
Pick one, hope you never use it, and enjoy
    Happy Trails.
  • I don't think anybody can answer your question. I was screwed by Coach Net so I dropped them and have Good Sam who responded when I needed them a couple weeks ago. Honestly, I think it's just luck and what crew is working in dispatch when you call. Good luck with your decision.
  • Coach Net is by far the most reliable and dependable and professional service by far. The do a much better job of screening the available wrecker services available in the area. They send a lowboy wrecker 90 miles to get me to a repair facility and had an appointment set for my arrival.
  • To answer your question we have GSRA and are pleased with it. They have come through for us several times with no problems. As stated above the next time they might not be so good. If not that is OK since everyone has a bad day sometimes. JMO
  • We just used Good Sam ERS (Emergency Road Service) when we broke down on the I-84 Off Ramp at Twin Falls Idaho. We had to be towed to the Ford Garage in Twin Falls Idaho. They were very helpful and we only waited about 40 minutes before the wrecker (Tow Truck) showed up and towed us in. Good Sam kept checking with us to make sure we were OK and kept us advised as to what was going on. Kudo's to Good Sam ERS, They have saved my Bacon more than once. We have had them fo 20 plus years.
  • They all fail at times so the best one is the one that comes to you on any particular day.
You can see GS failures here as people complain and loudly when they are not served to their satisfaction. Some are correct some not so much. A thorough reading of the contract before signing up is needed no matter which one you choose.
As to coachnet and AAA there is no forum for the people who get shafted by them to voice their displeasure.
So flip a three sided coin and choose.
SO FAR GS has served me well the 3 times I have used them. The next time may be good or may be bad each time is a carpshoot.
  • Good Sam currently contracts with Allstate Motor Club as their ERS provider. Coach-Net is an ERS provider. We have Coach-Net...
