Roadtrek 170 as a daily driver

Well, I admit it. I miss my Roadtrek! But I also love our Class C Phoenix Cruiser. We are using the Cruiser for boondocking a couple of weeks at a time and it fits the needs perfectly at this stage of our lives.

SO, I got to thinking: I wonder how a 170 would work for a daily driver for me and we could use it on day trips. I have a garage at home that can accommodate a 170 and I store the Phoenix Cruiser a few miles from home.

Here is my question and it is Roadtrek 170 specific: has anyone used that model for a daily driver and if so, how did it work for you? I am inquiring only about a 170, not a 190 or 210. I have owned a 190 and a 210 and am totally familiar with the answer concerning those models.

I thought I might sell my Jeep and buy a used 170 for me. My wife has a new Jeep Trailhawk and it would remain with us for towing behind the PC.

Any thoughts? 170 specific please!

Paul

  • I used a 170 Roadtrek for almost 5 years as a daily driver, moved up to a Bornfree, to this day I regret having sold the 170. I should have kept both
  • Seems like an expensive daily driver option, but so would any number of non-RV options. The daily driver mileage would hasten the depreciation, too.
  • No experience with it, but a former neighbor of ours had something on that line for his daily driver, and used it that way for years.
  • I have a 170 Winnebago class B. Since the MPG is 20 I like to drive it in lieu of my car which gets about the same mileage. I like having my facilities with me. I tend to frequent places where I have no difficulty parking. Questions from passersby take up some time so if I'm in a hurry I don't take the class B. We don't drive it in winter weather though when the road salts might impact the under body elements.
