Roadtrek rear windows

I have the same problem as others in the forum. Both my 2002 Roadtrek side windows on the driver's side (lower panel that cranks out) started detaching. It appeared that the glue strip or whatever holds this panel into place simply disintegrated. I was on route from Colorado at the time. Thankfully I noticed the windows detaching (I literally caught them before they fell to the ground) and duck taped them into place. I live in Wisconsin and the tape held perfectly. When I went to Camping World to get an estimate to have the windows repaired, they told me the only fix would be to replace the entire window at an astronomical price. I guess I would like to hear from those who went to a local automotive window repair shop and how that fix worked. Or if, in the end they had to replace the window and what type of reasonable price to expect.
Thanks!
  • I'm having the same problem. Right now I am using a high strength adhesive matte black tape running the full length across the seam and it's holding it in place. It's about 2-1/2" thick and holds well. Being black, it isn't really that noticeable when viewed casually. Until I find a permanent solution, this will at least keep the windows functional and secure.
  • I had the same problem with my 2002. I went to a glass shop, had the window permanently sealed. It no longer opens, but I seldom opened those side windows, and it was a solid fix without having to replace the entire window. I think the glass shop charged me about $75 for sealing both windows in place.
  • There's info about this problem in the archives. There is a thread in the FAQ's over in the "Forum Tech Support" forum that explains how to search the archives.
