Roof Paint

I have a 1998 Country Coach. It has a fiberglass roof. The existing surface paint is faded and has a dull finish. I would like to repaint the roof with something with a glossy finish so cleanup is easier. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :B

  • Beware of one coat Easy solutions. Bus Kote uses
A primer then two coats. Its diy. You get what you Pay
for. The primer will really stick. Ive done rubber and
Aluminum roofs. Tough stuff. Try and get it off your hands
After. NASA uses it. School busses use it.
I power wash then next day apply. Done deal.
  • Nobody has mentioned whether or not these paints will run. If they will, the OP will spend his time after every rain washing the white runoff from the sides of his RV...which must be done soon after the rain, or they will become permanent.

Here is a link with info about the prep, resealing with ProFlexRV caulk, Eternabond application and Elastomeric Paint coating of my then 16 year old Filon fiberglass roof:

  • Check marine supply outlets for one and/or two part epoxy and polyurethane paints. Some of the big names in marine fiberglass paints are Interlux and Pettit, but there are many others out there. They can be sprayed (for a car like finished) or even rolled with good results and since they are designed for the marine sun/salt environment they will withstand anything a MOHO will find. If you search under "marine topside paints" you'll get plenty of options. Good luck.

  • It would look nice for you to do that. Use a polyurethane paint with an additive activator. It will place a hard coat of paint over your existing roof while adding an additional sealant. You can purchase through summit racing. Would love to see pics when finished.
