That is right, the warranty is only for a year but I could see them not covering the warranty if there was damaged made by the dish installation but they said it would void the entire roof warranty.
My other SK-3005 receives the same three satellites as the new version and it has been going strong for 5+ years. The one I was going to give to my Son is an extra dish that was on another RV and it has been used for three years with no problems.
