Roof Warranties

So after reading a lot on here and other websites the snake like bubble in my 2011 keystone is probably going to be my baby. As it does not leak.

Watched a video on Alpha Products website featuring their membrane being applied on a Jayco assembly line. Worker literally tossed a 5 gal. pail of adhesive on the Luan then assisted by a second employee, they rolled the stuff out on the Luan, then ran back down the catwalk to grab the end of a roll of Alpha Ply and walk it to back end of trailer. Without a lot of regard for getting the air out from the ballooning membrane, they then went from front to back with squeeqees to "bond" membrane to adhesive and Luan.

It's a wonder they don't leak like sieves from the factory (and I bought a Jayco last year).

When you are buying a trailer it can be difficult to know from what manufacturer you are buying. There are so many levels of brands, models, etc. that even smart folks can be confused. I prefer brands where I can see the manufacturer's name from 20 feet away, not have to look for a two inch square decal. Manufacturers who are proud enough to show their name in big letters are more likely to build and support a better product. At least that's my educated guess.

I called the warranty dept at Dutchman after sending an email yesterday to waranty@dutchman.com - which received no response. The guy who finally picked up seemed like he really didn't want to talk to me, nor was he of much help. Many posters on here have sung the praises of ther paticular TT's manufacturer - aparently Dutchman is not in the same bunch. Too bad for me I guess.

Called Camping World service and they are supposed to make me an appointment to take a look at it. They can most likely deal more effectivly with Dutchman.

Not going to be a repeat Dutchman customer.

Many to most warranty claims need to go through a certified Dealer first who help explain and diagnose what the issue is (warranty vs. non-warranty)........

Do you have a good dealer that may work with you?

Be warned many instances, once out of that "One Year" warranty, companies fight tooth & nail not to cover.

If I have read and heard right roof 10-12 warranties are on the material defects only. Not seals, roof constuctiion, desgin, etc....

I did have warranty issues (within 1st year) with a Thor/Dutchmen/Kodiak product. First my dealer had to get it approved, I also kept a log and dialog to Warranty@dutchmen.com, to be over-anal. The mfg first had to have it verified by dealer before any info given on coverage.

I'd start at the Coleman level and work my way up from there. No need to involve the big guns unless and until there is no cooperation from Dutchman/Coleman.
