Rooftop AC Units Operation

Recently purchased three year old 2013 Tiffin Phaeton 36QSR. Not familiar with the operation of two roof top heat pump units. Used them for the first time this past week. Have two separate wall mounted control units, Coleman, one midsection and one in rear bedroom. If I have the rear air set to cool and the midsection turned to off, the midsection air will come on and run for awhile and then go off as if it is under control of the rear control. Are these units interconnected and why?

    The thermostats are not interconnected, but the supply and return ducts are if Tiffen is typical. Either AC will push air to all the vents.

    As to why, I believe it is so you can still have AC or HP throughout the coach, regardless if the electrical hookup capacity may only support one unit.
