I know that the Liberty Prevost engine that I drove was very quiet and you could just barely hear the diesel generator running unless you were standing right next to it.
But at 4 or 5 AM, they are all noisy. Beyond me how some of these folks get up at 4 to get an early start, then drive 60 mph to get there.
