I've never been told that, but it does make sense to me too. I can see how the motorhome manufacturers may not have planned for having the generator running while the motorhome was moving in the rain. Every time I check the oil on my generator I get a hand full of road grime. The generator is covered with it. So if running when that road grime was getting up there it would be clogging up the air filter.
