Running generator while driving in the rain

Just had my Onan QS8000 first service. The tech was very good at the Cummins Bridgeway branch. He advised against driving with the gen running in a heavy rain. That it could get water injested into the system. Thought it was a good idea.

What say you?

Run it when you need it...rain or shine

That could be expensive. I would check with any and all manuals that came with the RV and Gen for proper Gen operating conditions.

  • Never heard that before but installations and generator types vary widely. Some are pretty open and others are totally sealed in soundproof compartments. I guess he may be referring to an installation where water may be sucked into the air inlet?

I've never seen a post where someone had a problem running rhe generator in the rain.
