Running hot

Radiator. It don't matter how many miles. Denial is a big thing when it comes to radiators. I did all of the do dads and what nots. Finally recored the radiator and took care of the problem. Mine only had 36k on it, but it was 20 years old. The fins were pulling away from the tubes and the core was coated pretty bad.

Although there may be some validity to it I have never experienced this situation.I re and Re engines and rebuilt such for years and nary a problem with a fan clutch because it was stored standing or laid flat.as for delco claiming they will not work properly again

ahh You threw me off when you said balanace out. also just as I was getting out of the daily repair business is when the 8.1 came into being. I can see where it may not engage/disengage entirely correct for the first few miles although I never ran into that situation

Nope, just the standard severe duty GM fan clutch for the Workhorse chassis 8.1L engine. The directions recommended letting the unit sit for 24 hours, face up, before installation. That didn't fit my schedule which probably caused the delay in it functioning properly. It did not vibrate. It just did not engage normally until an hour or so.

I have been in truck and auto repair for over 40 years and have never experienced a Fan clutch that had to "Balance out?" or run 50 miles before working correctly

I'll bet that you never bothered to read the stamp on the clutch that said to "store" the clutch face up when on the shelf either. Perhaps, just perhaps, if it is not stored properly it takes awhile for the silicone fluid to flow properly.

maybe your "out of balance unit" that had to "balance out" was a very special military grade one;)

Mine overheating problem was garbage between the condenser and radiator. Once I took it all apart and cleaned it up, I haven't had overheating issues since.
