Several years ago at a Fire Safety seminar at a rally, Mack the Fire Guy asked how many ran with the propane valve on. Many hands went up. He then asked how many of those were professional Fire Fighters and all the hands went down. He then said that he had never had a Fire Fighter admit to running with the propane on. As a retired volunteer fire fighter I found that interesting.
Without going into details we once had an incident that made me glad that we rarely run with the propane valve open.
