I would like to get some feedback if any of you have ever joined a RV Caravan. We were thinking of joining one next summer (2016) to the Eastern Provinces of Canada.The trip that caught our attention is 58 days and they have 3 summer departures dates to pick from.Over the years, we have done our own thing including driving around Lake Superior in 2008. I just thought it might be interesting to join a caravan as they have everything laid-out with free days included.They also have a 'tail-gunner' with minor repair parts in case there is an issue.Thanks,MM.

We never did a caravan. We do know some people who joined a caravan to Alaska. They said it was a lot of constant driving and a fairly strict schedule.After hearing about their trip, I knew it would not be for us. We like to stop at interesting places along the way.But, some like the security of traveling with others and having a set schedule. I guess that would be okay for going from point A to point B, however you would miss a lot in between.JMO

We have been on two caravans with SMART. One to Alaska and the Great River Road. They were both very well planned with lots of museums, events, and other attractions that were included in the price. We had short travel days and would generally spend two to three days at each stop and there were lots of free days for you to explore on your own. We have made many friends on these caravans and have really enjoyed them. In my opinion it is a great way to travel.Glen

MM, if you'd kept your Dynasty you could caravan with other Monaco owners (Monaco in Motion) very reasonably. Last summer we did 19 day in the Canadian Rockies with 8 other rigs. Even though we'd been there before, it was nice to do some things that we might not otherwise... Calgary Stampede, Baniff Gondola, and some lake cruises... we live on a lake and used to snow ski.Not sure what you would do for 58 days in that area as we did a 17 day one several years ago and other than not going to Newfoundland we saw most of the Maritimes. Not many CGs with 50 amp service. Like you I usually do my own thing BUT it is nice to only have to decide which entree to order. While both times were great and relaxing, after 17-19 days I was ready to go back out on my own.

We did a Caravan to Mexico once with Baja Winters. What a hoot. Made great friends and had an Awesome time. I think Caravans can be a hoot if everyone checks their politics at the door. Wouldn't hesitate to do another caravan. For what its worth, we are starting to organize a caravan thru Europe, Morocco, the British isles and the Baltics for fall of October 2017 lasting approximately one year. We will be buying the motorhomes in Holland and selling them one year later. Lots more details but we'll leave it there unless someone wants to PM me. At some point we'll start a separate thread. Just starting to get the word out.
