Rv fridge turning off for a while

We are currently camping and my rv fridge has been off most of the day. It was running fine it is set on auto. I did notice that it was frosting up a bit in the freezer but I have seen that before. I tried to put in on gas but we are camping near the ocean and it is rather humid so I think it is not getting a spark to ignite. The light is on in the front stating it is on auto. Items are cold but my little thermometer states the temp is lose to 60. Is it normal to turn off to defrost. It is not over loaded with items. The light inside the fridge is not turning on either. The drain is clear also and there is some runoff from the drain. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  • The refrigerator still needs 12v DC to function, even if you have electric at the site. The control board is 12v DC all the time. Check to make sure your battery is charges and/or the disconnect switch hasn't disconnected the battery (if you have one).

  • If the inside light is off, the fridge probably isn't getting 12 vdc.
