RV Parking at Devils Tower

We've visited Devils Tower in the past , but never in a long MH and Toad combo- so never paid attention to long RV parking. Planning on stopping by there for a bit on our way home next summer.I do recall the parallel parking near the main visitors center up the mountain-- and it was pretty full when we drove up there. When I looked on the NPS web site I saw that they now have additional parking (??) near a picnic area???

From the NPS web site:

" ...Private RVs and trailers may use the RV parallel parking area along the east side of the main lot near the visitor center or the new long vehicle parking area near the picnic area."
I can not find the picnic area they refer to on the map or that parking.

Does anyone recall where that large vehicle parking site (or picnic area) is they refer to at the monument. I sure could not locate it on their map.
  • We were there last year, met up with a friend in a 40'er, towing a full sized extended cab P/U. There were several spots in the NP campground where he fit fine.

Edit Oops, sorry, guess you were looking for parking at the visitor center.
  • The last time I was there I drove past the visitor center and continued on the loop. At the far end of the loop, there was plenty of room for me to pull to the side and park. It was a short walk back to the center and the tower trails. We usually travel during the Winter months and this was in late October so there were not a lot of people there at that time. Might be different finding parking during months that draw a lot of visitors.

    Thanks J Rooster.

Wow thats a bit farther down hill than I expected. I guess you don't have much of a choice a choice if the parallel parking up at the visitor center is full.
