It really does sound like ($100k) 'pyramid' issue. Water, water, water. You may be at a point where you will have a lot of cleaning to do to get rid of the pyramid. Maybe an almost full tank of water and some enzymes or ridx for a couple days to help break it down. Rinse and repeat as necessary.
