RV toliet

Has anyone had to replace the toilet in their RV? If so, what did you replace it with? Any suggestions? Jim

I thought I was going to have to, but then I realized that I had used up the last of the Taco Bell coupons and between that and the toilets in the bath house I made out alright.

  • I have had problems with the Style Plus leaking, from the fill valve (2x) and the vacuum break (2x). I have had the flush return spring break and the attaching point on the plastic base for the spring break snap off. Last January we replaced the Style Plus when the spring mount broke after 12 years of full time use. I replaced it with the same Style Plus from Amazon. That replacement toilet's base had cracked at the rear by late April, I replaced it as it deteriorated further and started rocking in August with a Dometic 310. No problems so far with this toilet.
  • I also went with the Thetford Bravura for 2 reasons #1 the larger base as enblethen said and #2 you don't have to pull the toilet to replace the water module as Jim had to do. Mine started leaking and all you had to do was pull the seat off and the module was right there,2 screws and the water connection and the job was done.
  • We replaced the original plastic toilet in our previous coach with a Thetford Aqua Magic Style Plus w/water saver sprayer. The Style Plus has a porcelain bowl and uses a standard residential toilet seat. We liked it so much that when we bought our current coach, we swapped the plastic toilet in this one with the Style Plus in old coach. Going on 10 years of use now, and the only repair it has needed was a replacement bowl gasket a couple of years ago, a simple 20 minute job. I also used a new base gasket when I reinstalled the toilet after the move, but I don't call that a "repair".
  • I replaced mine with a Thetford Bravura.
    Installed with the Thetford Riser
I went with the Bravura because it has a larger base pattern making it more stable then previous model.
  • I went with the Dometic 310 toilet which is the standard height of a residential toilet and uses the full size residential elongated seat. It is also porcelain and can be cleaned like a residential toilet.
It replaced the small plastic toilet that came with the RV.
I still miss just to make the DW feel at home. :B
  • It is always better to put your rig...1999 38' Monaco Windsor...in your signature so people don't have to hunt for it. But in answer to your question, yes, I did have to replace my toilet. The metal mechanism that flushed it rusted out. Before that, I repaired it a couple times.

Here's the article I wrote about it. My rig was a '94 so it's possible there enough similarity that you'll find the article useful: Replacing toilet...
