RV Weight

We have a 2013 Winnie Vista 27N since May...a new model for this year. We have been RVing for 25 years and downsized to this 28 fter from a 35 fter.
Had the Rv weighed in October and found that the curb side was 750 lbs more than the other. Curbside has a slide with the galley, micro, oven, stove, fridge, pantry, HWT, dresser drawers and outside TV. Of course it is ours now. Will the tires be the only thing effected by the uneven weight? Yes, we have moved some basement storage items to the street side.

  • my 03 Winnebago adventurer was like that and it leaned towards the curb side. I put on a set of air bags on the back and put 25 pounds in the left side and 75 pounds on the right side now it rides and sets level and is more stable in cross winds
  • I had my coach weighted at the FMCA Rally in Albany,Or (4 corner wt) and I'm over wt in the rear by 1150lbs and under in the front by 730lbs. In January I got a new set of Michelin 295/80R22.5 XZA2 with a max PSI of 120lbs. With a combined wt of 33,620lbs FR 6,405lbs-FL 6,065lbs RR 10,195lbs-LR 10,955lbs I have to run 105 PSI in the front and 100 PSI in the rear. This is the only way to get a true wt reading and know what PSI to run, money well spent. Must be the new steel and brass radiator and not the way the wife packed the coach.

Does the coach in fact, sit level enough, so it doesn't look so bad? For now, I'd just be sure the tires were pumped up to the heaviest side number and then add 10-15psi for a cushion. Evidently handling hasn't been affected or you would have noticed long before now. Most have never weighed each side separately, so, I'm sure that ownerships have came and went without the owner operators ever having a clue and/or caring less.
Meanwhile, Winnebago should be made aware of their incomptence and to see what they might offer in assistance.
  • when we bought the RV, I looked at the rock guard we had installed and said at the walk through that the guard was higher on the driver's side
than the right. little did i realize it was the weight.

Is the ride height different from one side to the other? I would measure all 4 points on a flat ground. I would assume Winnebago new the weight difference and compensated for this with shims under the springs on the heavier side, but I would still check.
  • Springs on that side and possible handling in windy conditions will also be effected.
