Oh my!!! As stated earlier we've never seen dirt in the machines. They go through two rinses. Most have workers right there to keep the laundry clean. One thing - we never used campground laundries - those are the dirty, sandy ones that the owners rarely keep clean on an hourly basis like we've seen done in commercial laundries.
It really isn't difficult to carry laundry into the car. No heavier than groceries.
Never have we spent $50/month....try $20. . . $10 every two weeks. The washers and dryers hold a lot more so you don't need a lot of washers.
As I said, some like to have their W/D. We didn't. Depends on your circumstances. We stayed in public parks or boondocked - no hookups. We liked to do it every 2 weeks and forget about it. We don't smoke so laundry money was our vice. :)
