One can only hope that police forces all over the country re-evaluate the management of stopped vehicles along the side of the road. There seems to be a prevailing thought that if they block enough of the flow of traffic, somehow they will be safer. It should be very obvious this idea does not work. I can't for the life of me figure out how the greatest disturbance of traffic flow is thought to provide the greatest amount of safety. Its a failed philosophy that needs a major rethinking. That and the super bright LED flashers that blind drivers so they can't see. You have lights blinding your vision and you are supposed to change lanes?
Of course I feel bad for the family of the officer. My comments are not intended to be a reflection on his judgement, but rather a judgement of the prevailing philosophy regarding traffic flow around a traffic stop.
