This is a true tragedy for all involved. I will say prayers for the Officer and his family as well as the coach driver an his. We need to all remember that being a peace officer is an inherently dangerous job, We also must remember we RV'er of big rigs have a great deal of responsibility to ourselves and to the general public while we are on the road.
Things I want everyone to thing about:
1 - Look up the road and make sure you have a plan for whatever may come up high speed might not be appropriate at all times. think about your stopping....
2 - Also spread the word......the left lane or fast lane should yield to slower traffic to the right when an emergency vehicle of any type is on the right shoulder.
I have this situation come up all the time. People in the left lane have their cruise set and will not brake for me when I must move over for a road side danger, such as a cop or a wrecker or a break-down. It’s a shame that possibly a little courtesy could have saved anyone's life.
Be careful out there folks yours or a loved one’s life may depend on it.
