Thanks for the info. I am more interested in reducing the scale and harmful effects of hard water, than in actually creating soft water. I think I will give the unit a try and see ifit suits my needs. I really like not dealing with a huge softening unit and dealing with the salt. The unit in question isn't something that takes up too much space, and it seems to take very little maintenance.
