Salton Sea
I have always been somewhat fascinated by the Salton Sea and it's history. I am heading that way(not in the RV) and was thinking about cutting over and checking it out. In trying to find info online...

I just looked at a photos about a week ago of my family camping in a tent at the Salton Sea in the late 50's. I remember floating in the water and fishing. One night the wind came up really strong, we had to leave the tent and sit it out in the cars.
There isn't much to see or do now days. As others have posted it stinks, some of the shoreline is littered with dead plants, junk and a few dead birds and fish. In some places it looks like the scenes from movies about the aftermath of nuclear disasters or the apocalypse
