If you have DISH or DirecTV at your house, see if you can take it on the road.

If not, get DISH because you can sign up for Pay As You Go. You can't do this with DirecTV.

Unless you're full timing . . . then sign up for either service and get a Winegard Travler (about $1200 for DISH version & $1500 for DirecTV).
  • We have a winegard trav'ler, and dish service with a hopper up front and wireless joey in the bedroom.

The wireless joey is nice 'cause it doesn't mess with the coaches wiring, we can still bring park cable or over the air back there.

pplmotorhomes.com has the best price on the Trav'ler, under $1200, free shipping. Replacing the existing KVH dome with this was easy peasy.
  • I have a wingard roof mount and a carry out. It is easier to move the carry out than the MH if trees are problem.
  • Travler. But be aware if your parked in trees you may not get a signal.
  • We used a Carry Out for several years but it became a pain to store, set-up, take down and etc. Now we have a roof mount so it's touch a button and watch TV. We also use a Dish Hopper for the front TV and a Joey in the Bedroom. This is a great set-up since you can record almost anything you want and than just play back when it's convenient. I'm sure Direct has a comparable unit.
  • Love the Traveller. HD. Good reception and automatic. My days of findinding satellites ended and now the box does it for me.
  • Winegard Traveler. I installed one. I Also see many on new RV,s.
    Replaced my KingDome Inmotion.
  • My Monaco is prewired for satellite TV but did not have the antenna. I've been researching it, there are two choices. Permanent mount on the roof and tripod (or some other temp mounts like tailgater). Then several choices in between. I'm going to just go with the tripod mount, which is on my "to order" list before my next boondocking trip.
