Screws for securing items to motorhome floor

Hi there,

I posted this almost two years ago, and now I'm finally ready to hit the road.

I purchased a well-maintained 2001 Newmar Mountain Aire 3763 on the Spartan chassis. I'm picking it up this Saturday and the first thing I need to do is add a desk to serve as my mobile office. I want to buy something like this:

And secure it to the floor using metal brackets.

My question is - what's under the flooring? Plywood? Can I just use wood screws to secure the desk?

Thanks in advance!
  • Most RV furniture is bolted not screwed to the floor
The bolts go all the way thru the floor, to large washers and nuts inside the compartment, or under the floor outside

Where do you intent to place this desk
Is there an open space or are you removing something
In a slide out? What's underneath
No slide living area should be clear of wires and plumbing, but may contain hearing vents, or Aqua Hot lines If you have that option in the RV
  • I would first find out what is below - don't want to puncture anything. My plywood is about 1/2" thick.

Possible to strap it down while in travel?
