Seam Caulk

What type of caulk does one use on the roof/seams of a 2002 Itasca 32V Class A gasser?

  • I have used Eternabond on the end cap seams. Dicor self leveling on other flat surfaces. Geoseal on the roof to side wall transition. On the latter make sure you use a screw driver or other tool to get the caulk down between the wall and the roof.
  • Go to the Winnebago web site. You can find the factory caulk specs there for your unit.
  • On the Winnebago and Itasca roof to wall seam the best thing I have used is the Proflex from camping world. It is a sealant and adhesive in one and will hold well. Most others I tried only lasted a year or so but the proflex will lastfor years. Do not use any type of silicone sealant.
  • I have used both lap sealant and eternabond tape. Both work great. In my view it's six in one and a half dozen in the other. BTW, I have seen eternabond tape be not so eterna if water sits under it long enough. It is a great product nonetheless. This is assuming the you have a EDPM rubber roof. If it's something else I go with eternabond tape or some sealant that is consistent with the roof you have, ie.. fiberglass, TPO rubber, metal, etc..
  • If you use the Eternabond it will probably be done for life. I have used it on my coaches and once lasts forever if you do it right.
  • If you have any of that EternaBond tape.....throw it away.

    DICOR calk!!
  • Dicor Self Leveling Lap Sealant and/or Eternabond Tape Sealant.
