You mentioned rear sp.plug hard to access...have you checked or replaced that plug recently? If it is misfiring on that cylinder, it could be why unit quit running. also have seen excessive carbon build-up on top of piston and in combustion chamber cause the engine to not turn over (Carbon locked) also check rear ball bearing on rotor shaft (where you put allen wrench to turn over engine) if bearing is getting dry, can lock up. Engine failures are not common on this model,( but possible of course), as it is a relatively slow running engine (1800 rpm), has a large oil sump (3.5 qt), and full pressurized oiling for internal components
