Thanks everyone. After my wife passed away in 06 I made a living trust and told my three daughters to give me a list of the things they wanted, I put it in the trust. A few months ago after I married again I told my daughters to come get the stuff now. I moved all my old family pictures to my business office and my daughters who now run the business is taking care of displaying it. The office is large with a beautiful stone fireplace. The love seat and my most comfortable chair will go to the office, my wife wants all new furniture for the living room of the new place. It will be good living behind gates where you don't have to worry about your house being broken into every time you leave home. (we do live in one of the better parts of the city but is (as the police say) the second most dangerous city in Ca.
Sounds like everything has worked out well. Just a note. Living behind gates (which we do also) is really a false sense of security. The gates and guards only keep out the honest folks. It obviously cuts down on random traffic but you have to be watchful for gardeners, service people, maintenance people, etc.
Turn your alarm on every time you leave and turn it on even when you are at home. Don't leave the garage door open unless you are using it. Just a few precautions can make a difference. In both of our gated communities, very little if anything has ever happened but keeping a watchful eye and not offering opportunity is the safest way.
Safe travels,
MM.
