I ghave a 2006 epic coachman. The RV has a little over 20,000. The other day while driving, the service engine light came on. I checked all the fluids, water, canister is 3/4 full, Oil is light brown, newly changed, tranny is nice red color. gas cap was on, I believe tightly. Turned the RV off for 2 days and restarted and light came back on. I can't find anything that explains what might be causing this. Any ideas?

Or, you could take it to a auto parts store, and have them hook it up

I can't find the codes anywhere. I have a manual but can't find the code section. I'm hoping it's something easy like the gas cap. Do you know if there is also a check engine light as well as service engine?

You need a OBD II scanner to plug in and read the codes. Then look up the code and it will tell you what system error is turning on the service engine light. Any thing else you will be just guessing at what's wrong. there are too many codes for anybody to guess what is wrong so get it read. Or buy a scanner and read it your self. Could be minor or major, you won't know until you read the code. Here is the one I have, works great.Actron Scanner

That light indicates a problem with the emissions control system. Get it to someone capable of reading the codes and diagnosing the problem.

And about half of the time it's the sensor itself that's bad.

Most auto parts stores will let you borrow a scanner. I borrowed one from Track Auto.

The connector is located on the left bottom of the steering column on my flair p30 chassis.

Here is a LINK to the OBD II codes.

To read your fault code you will need a OBD II code reader connected to your OBD II port. You can borrow OBD II Scan Gauage from most auto parts stores.

You connect the reader up to the OBD II port in your coach. Federal law requires all vehicle manufactures to locate the OBD II port within one foot of the steering column on the inside of the vehicle. On my Ford F53 my port is to the right of the steering column and up under the dash. The port may have a cover and may be difficult to identify.

It may be easier to locate your port by taking digital pictures up and under your dash and then look for the port in the pictures.

Your computer in the vehicle does two things. I collects information from sensors, then the computer uses this information to control the engine components to run the engine, Etc. If the light comes on, it is either the computer is looking for information that it is not getting, it is trying to control something that will not respond. Only an OBD II scanner can read the codes.

RV manufacturer will not be able to help you with codes, you need to get information from Chassis maker. Once I know code number I type in Mfg., year and code on internet. Then you may be able to find solution.

Auto place scanners are very generic, and sometimes I have to go to a Mfg. dealer to solve problem.

Go buy a Scan Gage, plug it in and read the code or codes. Look up ECM codes for what ever classic, (GM&Ford), that you have. You can also read MPG etc. going down the road along with resetting codes as you go.
