Set up Order

Is there a preferred order when setting up? I read that the unit should be level before extending slides. So I've been doing the auto-leveling first, until the monitor says "success" and is level. Then extending the slides. I've found that after extenting, the unit tilts slightly to the left(where I have two slides). Would I be better off extending slides first, then running the auto-level? I realize that the most important thing to have level is the Refrig. I'm guessing that if the site is basically level, extending the slides first, then leveling should work.

THANKS.....

Another vote on level first, slides out and adjust if needed. Your rig tilting to the street side after deploying the slides does not seem right to me though.

    Another vote :)

You guys misunderstood. There is no voting here as there is only a right way and wrong way....and it all depends upon the mfg's procedures. If you have a Monaco product...you do it one way. If you have a Newmar..you do it a different way.

It's very simple..what every your mfg says to do, that's the right way. If you do it from what someone says "they" do it here on a forum..that's the wrong way.

    Read your manual.

  • Home must have a sturdy/rigid LEVEL foundation PRIOR to imparting any rotational or bending force.
Well, it works for me. But, mine has the HWH bi-axial hydraulic levelers.
I too have the two slideouts on the driver's side. With my system I can raise the two leveler on the side of the slideouts the same small amount at the same time. And, I do that prior to extending the slides.
  • Follow YOUR mfgs recommended way of extending the slides. All Monaco coaches recommend you extend slides THEN level. As stated above, this ensures the rig is square before leveling. Monaco also uses a three point leveling system which may have something to do with their recommended procedure....follow your mfgs recommendations. They've spent the big bucks for the engineers to form an opinion as to the correct method...Dennis
  • Read and follow your manual. If you have to raise the left a little, after the slides are out, that is OK.

  • I might be helpful if you let us know what coach you have since the procedure may vary. Ours is slides out first than drop air/level. Leaving is the reverse.

Here the theory is that the chassis needs to be "square" not level to prevent the slides from possibly binding. Leveling first can slightly torque the frame out of square.

However your coach may vary so go by the manufacturers instructions.

check your owner's manual but we level, extend and then adjust level as needed.
