Sewer Solution

Hello friends,
I am a 74 yr. old widow who needs to find a better way to empty a 2004 Roadtrek. I just found "Sewer Solution" (see Camping World) and it looks like a good way to install an inexpensive way to empty the tanks.

Has anyone with a Roadtrek used this method?

Do you have pictures?

Please write with pros and cons. Thank you.

Jean
  • Hi want-a-be......does it actually empty your black tank without another hose hooked up to water?
  • We have used a sewer solution for years and have not had any problems. We have a class A but I don't think that makes any different's. It does dump the black tank slow but rarely do I have too hook a water hose to it to help it dump. One of the best things I brought for the RV. It sure is better then the stinky slinky!
    Good Luck
  • I used one for years before I changed to a macerator pump, but not on a roadtrek.
a macerator can be a portable unit similar to a sewer solution. probably $150 more but well worth it IMHO. it is a one time purchase. don't plan on using the sewer solution at a public dump, get a full hook up site every 3rd day or when needed and dump at your convenience.
you can also make your own SS.

  • Thanks Ianerd and Metaphor - The reason I'm looking for a unit that doesn't need "installing" like a regular macerator is the cost. That is why the Sewer Solution appeals to me. I can do this myself without much investment. I have seen the video a couple of times and it really looks great. I can't see too much of a problem with getting water at the dump station for the garden hose.....our local park has two available. I am mainly interested in seeing some actual hook-ups that show it connected to my specific 2004 Roadtrek. My husband always struggled with the dumping and I helped him, so I know it's because the RT is so low and has to pump over the curb. He always had to "milk" it until every last drop was out of the hose or it wouldn't go back into the tube so the cotter pin could be put back in place. For me, with a knee replacement, it is a problem. Thank you both very much for your input.
  • Jean, here is a vid for you to look over on the product:

I am new to this myself. Can't give you any pro or con yet. :D
  • Exactly what mlts22 said. I think I would prefer the macerator (they make portable units) over the sewer solution.
  • I think there have been a couple people who have used Sewer Solutions with "B"s to good effect. It requires a lot of water from a hose to use, but gives similar results. The best is a built in macerator pump, but the Sewer Solution does similar, provided ready access to a hose and water.
